Brother Robert died peacefully Monday morning after a brief respite in hospice care.
The District of Eastern North America remembers Brother Robert with memorial liturgies according to the tradition of the Institute. Through their prayers, communities and individuals entrust Brother Robert to God’s loving care.

The students and faculty of Liceo La Salle, Chiquimula, Guatemala, weep at the loss of their fgormer Principal, brother and friend. God rest his soul!
Best friend, use to be my Teacher since I went to La Salle Chiquimula, Guatemala. Over 25 years knowing him , He always visit me in Los Angeles where I currently live and so excited that He was part of my life and He always be remembered as one of my best friends. I had the blessing of calling him on his birthdate Jan 5-2024 and He told me that He had a great life and enjoyed every moment it broke my heart because it sounds like a goodbye to me, and I also thanks him for being part of my life and my family, because every time He visited Guatemala always visited my Mom and my Dad. I used to joke that we had snow in the village I used to live but it was true it was always hot, and He always told me ok Osmundo I know you have a great imagination about snow.
God call you to be with him and thanks for the GREAT friend you will always be.

Bob was a good and faithful friend. He lived his FSC vocation to the fullest and touched the lives of many people. He was the absolute master of “keeping in touch.” Name a country, city or town, he knew someone there. In 1970, he and I drove cross country in my mother’s Volkswagen Beetle. I always reminded him that he must have hummed “Raindrops Keep Fallin’ on My Head” for 2,500 of the 3,000 mile trip. We had a great time with many laughs and he had prearranged where we would stay at each stop. He either had a friend, relative, or Brothers’ community willing to welcome us. He will be greatly missed.
On behalf of the Cunningham family of Ashaway, RI we deeply mourn the passing of our great family friend Brother Robert. We met BroRo circa 1975 through LaSalle Academy (RI) and for the next 49 years he was an adjunct member of our family. He was there for births and deaths, graduations and birthdays, sporting events and family get-togethers. He drew upon his spirituality and provided to support to all us Cunninghams when we needed it most. His photo above is quintessential. We all had a chance to spend time with Brother in December 2023 and Jan 2024 and will always treasure those last visits. We join others in their grief and loss.

Hermano Roberto Hazard! Un gran amigo, un gran ser humano! en su estadía aquí en Chiquimula, Guatemala, nunca anduvo enojado él solo irradiaba paz, amor al ser humano, siempre sonriente, siempre alegre, se retiro de Chiquimula pero él siempre venia a visitarnos cada dos años, este año tocaba la visita, pues la ultima vez que compartimos y fuimos a cenar fue a finales de junio 2022!
Los que tuvimos la oportunidad de conocerlo eso es una gran Bendición de Dios!
